GDC Kargil celebrates annual plantation Drive .The plantation Drive was performed under the Star college scheme of the college which is a DBT funded project for the institute.The college this year aimed to plant 50+ trees under the leadership of worthy Principal Dr Amina Qari.Various plant species of plants like Salix,Poplar,apricot etc were planted.

The GDC, Kargil was honored to host a distinguished guest, Mr. Byju Kiran from Kerala who is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) representative of Bisleri International. He gave a detailed presentation on history of plastic from discovery till present date plastic scenario all over the world. Also, talked about adverse health effects of microplastics on health, ecosystems, etc and explained in detail about different types of plastic and the massive recycling initiatives undertaken by bisleri international in all over India and especially in Ladakh.

Successful Conduct of Engineering/Architecture physical spot round Counseling by Higher Education Department, UT Ladakh at Govt Degree College,Kargil and EJM College leh Leh, August 11: The Higher Education Department of Union Territory of Ladakh successfully concluded the Engineering/Architecture physical spot round counseling at GDC Kargil and EJM college Leh. Rizwan Ali (Nodal Officer),Assistant Professor Physics and Dr Rinchen Tundup (Nodal officer) Assistant Professor Mathematics conducted the counseling process at GDC Kargil and Amjad Ali Assistant Professor Mathematics conducted the process at EJM College Leh. The physical spot round counseling, organised by the Higher Education Department, witnessed an enthusiastic participation of students from all parts of Ladakh. Out of all the registered candidates a total of 11 candidates have been selected on the basis of their AIR rank of JEE mains 2023.The selected candidates will be issued the provisional admission letter for admission in different reputed institutions/colleges across India. The counsellors provided valuable insights and guidance to the students seeking engineering admissions. This initiative aimed not only to streamline the admission process but also to assist students from far flung areas of Ladakh in making informed decisions about their academic pursuits. The Higher Education Department extends its gratitude to all the participants, parents, and institutions that contributed to the success of this event. The collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved are integral to the advancement of education in the region. GDC Kargil holds talk on “Woman in Science” Kargil, March 25, 2023: Department of Physics, Govt. Degree College Kargil under the banner of G20/Y20 today organized a talk titled “Women in Science” to address the challenges faced by women in the field of science and technology. The seminar aimed to encourage more women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. At the outset Rizwan Ali, Assistant Professor Physics welcomed the guest and the speaker of the event, faculty and students. The speaker on the occasion was Zarina Banoo, Assistant professor Physics, Miranda House College, Delhi University. She shared her life experience and challenges during her journey from Chiktan village to Miranda House. She also shared her experience at CERN facility, Switzerland. Banoo explained the criteria to take admission in higher institutions for research purposes. She also talked about various scholarship schemes that a student can take to ease the financial burden. The seminar was insightful and thought-provoking one. It also had an interactive session where various questions were asked by the students. The talk was concluded by HoD Physics, Dr Neyaz Ali and thanked the speaker for sparring her valuable time. He requested the speaker to guide the students and requested to give such fruitful talk in the future. He thanked the principal, faculties and students for making the event successful.

GDC Kargil Department of Physics 08-JULY-2022 The department of Physics organised a one day educational cum exposure tour for the 3rd and 5th semester students to the KREDA Hydro Power Project Biaras and water uplift project powered by renewable source of energy at Latoo area. KREDA Project Director Kacho Ahmad Khan provided us with experts to guide the students through the projects at both Biaras and Latoo. Chief Engineer Shujat ali and operator Mr Ramzan ali introduced the students about the basics of power generation at the Biaras Power Project,the enthusiastic students upon seeing the project were overwhelmed and asked various questions pertaining to the working about turbines and different machinery involved. Engineer Sajad Hussain,the expert at Latoo area guided the students in knowing the basics of water upliftment at Latoo village.The importance of the project to the village were discussed in detail with experts and elders of the village. Assistant Professor Physics Dr Niyaz ali and Rizwan ali accompanied and guided the students to the two locations.

NCC Convocation Ceremony held at Kargil Degree College KARGIL,16 NOV:-The first NCC Convocation Ceremony was Celebrated Govt Degree College kargil this was Organized by Department of sports in Collaboration with NCc wing GDC kargil. On the Occasion Major Gulzar Ahmad Mir First NCC Officer Kargil Ladakh Graced the Event as the Chief Guest . While Addressing Major Gulzar Ahmad Mir stressed the Cadets of GDC Kargil actively participation in NCC to be able to Greater contribution in social service in the Communities. Earlier Mr Murtaza ali Associat NCC Officer GDC Kargil presented the welcome address on behalf of Principal GDC Kargil in his address briefing about the NCC training in the college Campus around 15 cadets have been Received NCC B And C Certificate 4 cadet selected in agniveer jakli and Ladakh Scouts. He thanked The training instructor of 1st battalion Ncc Ladakh for Conducted time to time training Camp within the Campus. Later Ncc B, and C certificate distributed among the Cadets. On 13th and 14th October, 2023, Under the DBT Star college scheme, the science departments of GDC Kargil carried out many activities such as outreach programmes on science in many schools of Kargil. Some of the activities include seminars, science exhibitions, and practical demonstrations of simple scientific experiments performed by the students from the college. Special lectures by experts and other science-related activities were organised for the students in these schools. Study tours were also undertaken to renowned institutions outside of the state to give exposure to the students.

Department of Botany, GDC Kargil conducted an essay writing competition on 03rd of November on theme "Say no to Corruption, Commit to the Nation" as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2023. The event was aimed at emphasizing the significance of transparency and ethical conduct in combating corrupt practices in government as well as private institutions. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from fifteen students who tried to highlight the menaces of corruption on various levels in society and suggested initiatives that can be taken up by each stakeholder in combating this malpractice. The judging panel consisted of Senior Assistant Professor Razia Parveen and Assistant Professor Kunzang Dolma who assessed the essays based on the originality, innovative ideas and depth of understanding of the theme. The position holders were given e-certificates at the end of the program. The event concluded with closing remarks by Assistant professor Rinchen Angmo.
