9 DAYS USHA/SIDBI SWAVALAMBAN SILAI CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME INAUGURATED AT GDC KARGIL
A 9 day Residential Swavalamban Silai Capacity Building Programme was inaugurated on 3rd September 2022 at the Government Degree College, Kargil. The programme is organized by USHA International Limited and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and implemented by the Ladakh Craft and Design Skill Centre, Government Degree College, Kargil.
The session was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri Mohsin Ali, Hon’ble Executive Councilor, Health, Industries Training Institute LAHDC Kargil. Ms. Razia Khatoon, Assistant Labor Commissioner Kargil and Ms. Shaista Ayoub, Coordinator Usha International Limited Jammu and Kashmir/Ladakh were present in the program as guests of honor. Ms. Sameena Rasool and Ms, Rukhana Ali, trainers of the 9 Days Capacity Building program also graced the occasion as special guests.
Dr. Javed Iqbal Naqi, Coordinator of the Ladakh Craft and Design Skill Centre, Government Degree College, Kargil, presented the welcome note and opening remarks. It was followed by formal welcoming of the guests with traditional khataqs presented by Dr. Javed Iqbal Naqi. Ms. Shaista Ayoob, Coordinator Usha International Limited Jammu and Kashmir/Ladakh, gave the overview of the program and talk about the various benefits and scopes of the programme that would enable the women trainees to be self-reliant and empowered. Ms. Razia Khatoon, Assistant Labor Commissioner Kargil in her address appreciated the initiative and called upon the participants to make great use of the platform to become successfully entrepreneurs in the sector. Shri Mohsin Ali, the chief guest of the event expressed his happiness and congratulated the college skill centre team for initiating such a progressive endeavor in favor of the women folk of Kargil. He also promised to extend his support in the fruition and successful completion of the programme.

The entire programme was moderated by Dr. Azra Khatoon, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Government Degree College, Kargil. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Archo Fatima Nissa, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Government Degree College, Kargil. The hospitality and protocol committee led by Prof. Amjad Hussain and Physical Director Yaseen Ah. provided the logistics support.
