Celebrating the Azad Ka Amrit Mahotsav, under ‘NASHA MUKT BHARAT
ABHIYAN’, a seminar on ‘Ill Effects of Tobacco’ was organized in Govt Degree
College Kargil. On this occasion BMO Kargil and Nodal Officer Mental Health
District Hospital Kargil, Dr Fatima Nisa was the chief speaker.
The seminar started with pledge by all the participants. The event followed by the
welcome note by principal GDC Kargil in which worthy principal highlighted the
menace of Tobacco consumption and urged the students to refrain from such bad
habits. Kaneez Fatima student of 6
th semester also delivered a lecture on the topic.
Syed Hassan Shah, Psychologist, District Hospital Kargil in his speech elaborated
the various phases of addictions and differences between use, abuse and addiction.
Dr Javed M Iqbal Sr. Assistant Professor also spoke on the occasion. He
emphasized the importance of freeing educational institutions from tobacco.
Chief speaker of the event Dr Fatima Nisa in her address presented a detailed
scenario of drug addiction with respect to district Kargil. She also elaborated
different kinds of drugs and other illicit substances found being used in the district.
The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr Azra Khatoon, Assistant
Professor of English department. The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks
by Mohd Javed, Assistant Professor, Urdu department.
